The Go-Betweens 1978-2006
Nach 11 Jahren und 6 großartigen LP's trennte sich 1989 die australische Band The Go-Betweens. Robert Forster und Grant McLennan gingen getrennte Wege, nahmen einige Solo-Alben auf, bis sie sich zu
einer The Go-Betweens Reunion im Jahr 2000 entschieden. Es wurde ein grandioses Comeback! Innerhalb der nächsten sechs Jahre brachten The Go-Betweens 3 hervorragende Alben heraus.
Die Go-Betweens waren wieder da! Und sie waren erfolgreicher als je zuvor. Sie selbst hatten das Gefühl an irgendeinem Höhepunkt angekommen zu sein.
Sie spielten Konzerte und schrieben weitere neue Songs. Album Nummer 10 war in Arbeit und es sollte etwas ganz besonderes werden.
Leider wurde dieses Album nie fertig. Am Tag seiner eigenen Hauseinweihungsparty legte sich Grant McLennan noch einmal kurz für einen Nachmittagsschlaf hin. Er wachte nie wieder auf.
Am 06. Mai 2006 verstarb Grant McLennan plötzlich und unerwartet im Alter von nur 48 Jahren. Anlässlich des 5 Todestages von Grant McLennan widmen Double Diamond
The Go-Betweens eine Sondersendung auf radio x Frankfurt.
Auf der Webseite der Go-Betweens steht: "He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, whether personally or through his music."
